Wonderland Montessori Academy offers a variety of programs to service the entire family unit, all based on the Montessori philosophy and approach to learning. We strive to develop and implement educational activity programs that contribute to the overall childhood development, including academics, the arts (music, movement and art) and foreign language.
Our mixed age classrooms allow a spirit of community and academic growth. The older children experience the joy of helping the younger ones and paving the way for the younger children to learn and grow. Children have the freedom to work with others who share their interests and level of ability, regardless of age.
The experienced classroom staff prepares the classroom activities and works to enhance the students’ individualized learning needs. Our Montessori trained teachers observe and record each child’s individual progress, knowing when to allow a child to work with genuine interest, or when to introduce a new challenge or point of interest.
Extended hours are available in the morning and evening to accommodate families. Elementary school children may participate in regular after school activities or they can choose to register for extra-curricular programs. (Details given at registration)
We look forward to servicing your family for years to come.
INFANTS/TODDLERS (6 weeks to 18 months)
A natural environment for a baby is one that provides wise and observant caregivers and an interesting and safe place for the infant to rest, explore, and develop their abilities. Our staff rotates classroom works, books, manipulatives, and musical instruments on a regular basis.
Our experienced Infant staff follows each infant’s own rhythm for sleeping, eating, and active times. Caregivers interact with each child, offering conversation and manipulative materials at receptive moments. As your child progresses from sitting up to crawling to walking, from bottles to feeding themselves, our caregivers are there to encourage and assist them every step of the way. Our early childhood certified teachers provide a well-rounded learning environment including sensorial, behavioral and verbal development of your child through the Montessori Method.
Daily communication with our parents is important for the constant changes within an infant’s developmental stages. Sharing the milestones and encouraging family participation helps foster each child’s independence and self-esteem. Maintaining a clean and sanitary environment for the overall development of your child is our prime motto.
PRE-PRIMARY (18-36 months)
The Toddler Program is based on play and learning activities which make use of Montessori materials to help lay the foundation of future learning.
The focus is on the following key developmental areas:
- Sensory and Perceptual Development
- Self-Help Skills
- Physical and Motor Skills
- Social and Emotional Growth
The first few years of your child’s life are crucial to the development of personality and intellect. This is a period during which learning takes place at an accelerated pace. At Wonderland Montessori Academy, we provide the sense of security and loving care that toddlers need to thrive during this stage of intense learning.
Since toddlers are especially committed to achieving independence, our teachers provide responsive individual attention as your child deals with positive experiences as well as frustration. Our curriculum takes advantage of the rapid growth of gross and fine motor skills at this stage of development.
Our experienced staff prepares the classroom environment to enhance the learning of the group enrolled. Teachers recognize children’s special developmental needs and create environments that foster the incredible intellectual, emotional, social, and physical growth occurring during this developmental phase in the child’s life. The environments offer the beauty, order, and predictability necessary for the young child to feel comfortable to spontaneously explore.
Our staff is dedicated to giving the children their first experience of a children’s community, where each member is respected and loved, and where the child’s natural curiosity leads to real learning.
PRIMARY (ages 3-6)
We find the best way to describe our academic program for the multi-age groups is with an overview of the various elements that make up the Montessori experience. The environment is designed to facilitate maximum independent learning and exploration by the child. The core of the program includes learning aimed at Practical life, Sensorial Exercises, Language, Mathematics, History, Geography and Science. It is a calm and structured space designed to meet the needs of every child and match their scale of learning. With constant interaction with peers, the children learn to take responsibility for themselves and each other. The multi-age setting helps children to learn from each other and because of each other. They also learn to get along as a community by respecting peers of different ages and abilities.
